Our History

  • 2012 – UM Racing was setup by University Students.

  • 2014 – FC14 first ever race car which competed in FSAE Italy 2014. This car took an overall 23rd place finish.

  • 2015 – Despite facing harsher competition, the FC15 placed 29th out of 77 competitors in FSAE Italy 2015.

  • 2017 – FC17 was launched. In formula student 2017, UM racing took 2nd place in the cost report which led to a 27th out of 80 place finish.

  • 2018 – Improvements where made to the FC17 making it the only car so far to compete in two Formula Student competitions. UM racing was 1 of 19 teams to finish in FSUK 2018. Finishing 29th out of 81 teams overall.

  • 2019 – This year the team had participated in a concept class with the initial design of FC20.

  • 2020 – Team competed in the concept class in FSUK. However due to Covid-19 the traditional competition was cancelled, which led to refining and improvements of the car for future competitions.

  • 2021 – UM Racing attempted to compete physically at Silverstone once again, how ever was only held physically for UK base teams. Which lead the team to take part in the concept class, virtually at FSUK. Finishing 5th in cost and 13th in design out of 65 entries overall.

  • 2022 – The FC20 was launched during UM Racing’s 10 year anniversary. Two targets were set; finish all dynamic events for the first time, in the team’s history and finish withing the top 25. UM racing finished 5th place in the acceleration event as well as in the skid pad event. We came 9th in design, 7th in the sprint and 1st in Endurance.UM racing came 3rd out 110 teams in the competition.
